The Board of Commissioners is composed of seven Lake Bluff Park District residents. The commissioners are elected for a four year term of office. This policy making board is responsible for establishing and maintaining the District as a corporate entity assuring adequate financing and competent staffing of the District.

The main function of the Board of Education, as an agency of the State of Illinois, is to adopt goals and policies that support student achievement, maintain fiscal integrity, and establish open, respectful transparent communications. The Board carries out these functions by doing the following:
Duties of Lake Forest High School District 115 Board of Education:
Board of Education members make decisions about school policy, budget, and curriculum. The District 115 Board is the official governing body of Lake Forest High School. Seven residents are elected from the community at large to serve on each board, and do not represent specific school neighborhoods. Newly elected board members will serve four-year terms without pay. School board elections are held on the first Tuesday of April in odd-numbered years.
Duties of the Village of Lake Bluff Board of Trustees/Village Clerk:
The Village Board of Trustees meets on the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Village Hall Board Room, 40 E. Center Avenue. Village Board Meetings are broadcast live on Cable Access Channel 19 with the most recent meeting rebroadcast on Wednesdays at 8:00 a.m. and Mondays at 7:00 p.m.
The Village Board also meets as a Committee-of-the-Whole on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Village Hall Board Room (40 E. Center Avenue). Village Board of Trustees and Committee-of-the-Whole meeting agendas are posted online the Thursday preceeding the Monday night meeting.
